In 1977, the UNCC 49ers met the CMU Chippewas in the NCAA Tournament. It was a hard fought game that ultimately saw the Chippewas losing a hard-fought game 91-86. For the 49ers, it was the beginning of a magical journey that our fan base holds on to dearly. For the Chips (as they so affectionately call themselves), it was a knife through the hearts of their hopes and dreams. It has been rumored that Cedric Maxwell collected their tears into a water bottle and drank from it to fuel the Cinderella run.

While that 49ers team had Cornbread, this 49ers team has Chris Braswell. Coming off an excellent game versus NCCU, Braswell is likely to continue his domination tonight. Very little mention has been made of his dunk against the Eagles, but we at GTG like to believe  the inner beast inside Braswell came alive. And now he’s going to feast on the weak interior of the Chippewas. (Speaking of Braswell, have we given this double double machine a nickname yet? A quick review of Central Michigan on epinions.com (I know, I’m stretching, there isn’t much material on this school) revealed a disturbing and frightening monster that haunts the campus: evil cliques. One must imagine the horrors this secluded student went through as evil cliques plotted against his success. This poor student, ostracized by his peers, was probably tormented by none other than Amy Roloff.

It is up to our heroic and welcoming basketball team to show the Chippewas what is possible through teamwork and togetherness… by utterly demolishing their basketball team. We should expect a win tonight, but with a young team, who knows. Central Michigan is bad, maybe not Campbell Camels bad, but any road game with so many new pieces is a dangerous one.
