We’re going to become a football blog, too!

Pigskin at UNC Charlotte.

Sounds gross.

Will also have to take their "talent" outside and to the next level.

But it’s the biggest news to hit campus since JRitchie held that epic Halloween party: we’re getting football. And not a scholarship flag football team. A legitimate football team with helmets, pads, jockstraps and probably even hotter cheerleaders (Lord knows we need them these days). Starting in 2013 GreenTintedGlasses.net will have to do more pre and postgames and have to spend more time not being paid to do this!

Today the UNC (the system, not the school with a jerk for a coach) Board of Governors approved the Student Debt Fee that will be used to pay for our future stadium. Despite all of the obstacles facing our school to get football, this one was looming like Dkemebe Mutumbo and we would be Mugsy Bogues. Many of us were that the UNC BOG would block our attempts at football and wave their finger at us as we struggle to shed our commuter college image.

What does this mean for Charlotte? Everything changes. We’re going to get more women’s sports (hope for Beach Volleyball, but expect Field Hockey) and Homecoming will be held on a day in the fall, when it should be. And oh yea, we’ll likely be switching conferences, yet again. We’ll have to touch on that more in depth in a later entry, but the lack of football is a big reason we’re in the A14 (not that there’s anything wrong with that…this year) and we weren’t even considered for the Big East when the ACC went Hungry, Hungry Hippo and added more teams.

Either way, this is big news, and we’re extremely excited – just as you should be.

Here’s an article about it, but since Utter is stalking Danica Patrick in Florida it really doesn’t have much detail..
