Can you believe this, Niner Nation? You can say the words, “IT IS GAMEDAY VERSUS DUKE!” Duke, the school known for free iPods, skinny kids in weenie bikinis and the Master Splinter himself, is taking on our Charlotte 49ers in the Preseason NIT. Considering half our student body thinks Charlotte isn’t even in the same division as Duke, we’re quite pumped for this matchup. I mean, Duke is in the ACC, that basically implies unbeatability right?
WRONG.
We always get up for these games. Even in an 11-20 season we took Clemson to the wire, and the year prior we went .500 against the almighty conference. These games are important to the players, the coaches, and most importantly, us. Let’s put on our Green Tinted Glasses and say we’ll dominate inside, Spears will feast upon soft post players, Big Phil will have more blocks than an old school lego set, Bowden will remember to set his laser-guided arm to “score baskets”, and maybe even Gohkan will reach Super Saiyan. Of course, we at GTG are magical and have visualized the future…

J Felt – Charlotte 81, Duke 77. Bowden hits the “on” switch and scores 15 points from the Coach K court logo alone.
letsgoNINERS11 - Charlotte 71, Duke 68. I’m gonna go out on a limb. The Niners lean Shamari Spears’ experience in Cameron Indoor as Dijuan goes off in the biggest game of his career. The refs are gonna try to screw us on a few really questionable calls at the end of the game but we fight through. We’ll probably be a 10 point dog, but I just can’t pick against the Niners. Breathe if you hate Duke. (I hope Duke fans and players read this, they’ll all pass out by gametime – J Felt)
D-Fo – Charlotte 83 – Duke 80. Shamari Spears goes for another beastly 20+ point performance, and in the process scares the Blue Devil bench so badly that three of their players go home at halftime. The immeasurable power of Coach Lutz’ mustache wills the Niners to victory in a close one.
JRitchie – I think we lose a heartbreaker: Duke 68 Charlotte 66 after being up by 3 with less than 17 seconds to go.
HP – Duke 76, Charlotte 63. Duke players finally find their shot in this game.
Bust – Charlotte 81, Duke 93. Duke plays good offense, we don’t play good defense. Duke is missing its starting big man, but we don’t play into that and rely on the three. Duke plays better defense.
Looks like even wearing Green Tinted Glasses doesn’t help everyone.
